What is Pegfilgrastim
?

Pegfilgrastim is a long-acting synthetic form of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), a hematopoietic agent that stimulates the production of white blood cells. It is used to prevent neutropenia (low levels of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell) in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy.

Pegfilgrastim comes as a powder to be mixed with a liquid and given by injection under the skin (subcutaneously) or into a vein (intravenously).

The usual dose of pegfilgrastim is 6 mg given subcutaneously or intravenously once per chemotherapy cycle.

Some common side effects of pegfilgrastim include bone pain, headache, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
