What is Pemigatinib
?

Pemigatinib (trade name: Fintral) is a targeted therapy drug used in the treatment of bladder cancer. It is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor which blocks the signals that promote cancer cell growth. It is administered orally in the form of a tablet.

Benefits of Pemigatinib
and Its Uses.

Pemigatinib, a novel small molecule inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase receptor c-KIT, has been shown to be efficacious and tolerable in patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) that harbor mutations in c-KIT.

GISTs are a rare type of tumor that arises from cells in the wall of the stomach or small intestine. These tumors are often treated with surgery, but in some cases, they may not be removable or they may come back after treatment. In these cases, medications may be used to try to control the tumor.

c-KIT is a protein that is found on the surface of GIST cells. c-KIT is important for GIST cells to grow and divide. Some GIST tumors have mutations in the c-KIT gene, which makes the c-KIT protein overactive. These tumors are called c-KIT-positive GISTs.
